Steps

  1. Have the account owner call AT&T on 800.288.2020 with the account number and personal identification number (PIN)
  2. Call during normal operating hours: a request received when AT&T is closed, or on a holiday, is handled on the next regular business day
  3. Within 14 days of activation there is no Early Termination Fee. After that, a term commitment means a prorated fee that shrinks each month and shows on the bill within 3 bill periods
  4. Return AT&T equipment undamaged within 21 days: take it with your account number to The UPS Store or a FedEx Office, which pack and ship it at no cost. AT&T stores do not accept returns
  5. Leave wall mounted AT&T equipment and its power cord in place
  6. Keep the receipt. Unreturned equipment is billed at $150, refunded automatically if it comes back within 6 months of termination
  7. AT&T Internet Air is cancelled on the same number and stays active until the end of the bill period
