Cancel Medibank
Medibank says outright that you cannot cancel online. It is a phone call on 1300 729 698 or a visit to a Medibank store, and the page is built to talk you out of it first. Changing cover can be done in the app, cancelling cannot.

- Expect to be offered a cheaper cover or a pause before they process the cancellation
- Ask for written confirmation and the date cover ends
- If you are switching funds, the new fund can usually transfer you so you keep your waiting periods served
- Check the Medicare Levy Surcharge and Lifetime Health Cover loading first, dropping hospital cover after 31 can cost more later

Australia only. Dropping hospital cover can trigger the Medicare Levy Surcharge above 105,000 dollars for a single or 210,000 for a family, and Lifetime Health Cover loading of 2 percent a year applies once you are past 31 and go without hospital cover.
