Cancel Verizon

Call Verizon, or sign in to My Verizon, open Chat with us and type Cancel. Cancellation takes effect on the last day of the billing period, and any device payment balance is charged in full on the final bill. Keeping your number? Do not cancel: get a Number Transfer PIN and let the new carrier move it.

Verizon has no page we can link to. The steps below are from their official help page.

What to expect

Chat, form or phone

Steps

  1. Sign in to My Verizon, choose Chat with us, type Cancel in the Ask a question box and follow the prompts to disconnect a line or reach a live agent
  2. Or call Customer Service on 800-922-0204 (8AM to 7PM Monday to Saturday, 8AM to 5PM Sunday) with the Account Owner name, phone number and Account PIN
  3. Pay off any device payment balance: Verizon says it must be paid before the line is disconnected, and whatever is left is charged in full on the final bill
  4. Cancellation takes effect on the last day of the billing period you cancel in, so Verizon suggests asking near the end of the cycle
  5. Keeping your number? Do not disconnect first. Turn off Number Lock if it is on (dial *611 or use the Security page in My Verizon)
  6. Get a Number Transfer PIN: dial #PORT from the phone and open the text link, or generate it in My Verizon on the website or app, or call 800-922-0204, or visit a Verizon store. Only the Account Owner or an Account Manager can do this
  7. Give the new carrier the PIN and your Verizon account number within 7 days, when the PIN expires. One PIN covers every line on the account
  8. The new carrier moves the number and Verizon disconnects that line. Once the last number has moved and the final bill is issued, the account closes by itself
  9. If you move your last phone line, cancel any watch, tablet or hotspot lines too, or they keep billing
